My Faith was Gone

“During 56 years of marriage, we have attended many churches,” said John Iredell. “I had times where I really struggled with my faith, wondering where God wanted me, and what I was supposed to be doing for Him.”  At times John stopped attending. “I was done with church.  I was so lost, and my faith was gone.”

Then a dear friend, Irv Dohner, died and John attended his funeral at St. Philip Lutheran Church.  John felt a strong sense of welcome by members.  “Pastor Lee visited us at our home shortly thereafter,” John shared.  “We had only visited but his home visit gave us such a special feeling to know he cared enough to get to know us.”

“We joined St. Philip shortly thereafter,” John shared. “Since then, I have become involved as Lector, Assisting Minister, and Coordinator of the Acolyte program.  The members are very welcoming and Pastor is always accessible and has visions for the future.  We feel we are at home at St. Philip.”

Your welcoming spirit as the community of St. Philip restores faith to people like John who feel lost. You represent the Body of Christ and through your welcome, God’s people find their place in our life of service together.
