Happy Ringer
Before moving to Myrtle Beach, Wendy Seidel, a life-long Lutheran, enjoyed worshipping and playing handbells at a Lutheran Church a short distance from Reading, Pennsylvania. She also enjoyed playing the piano and became a Band Mother when her sons joined the band in the 5th and 6th grades. Church has always been very important in Wendy’s life, and she was hoping to find a congregation in Myrtle Beach that was accepting and not judgmental. She also really wanted to be able to play the handbells again, after 28 years of being a ringer.
“When Jim and I visited St. Philip, we found a congregation that was so friendly,” Wendy shared. She appreciated the way that Pastor Jason Lee and Music Director and Organist, Arthur Ghere, worked together to integrate music, liturgy, lessons, and the sermon. Back when it was necessary to climb steps to receive Communion, she found care in the helping hand of an usher. In addition to the friendliness of members, Wendy and Jim were also happy to see that many of the worshippers remained for the postlude following the service.
Then two days later, Pastor Jason visited Wendy and Jim in their home. He shared that St. Philip has a handbell choir! Wendy and Jim are now happy ringers! They especially like the way that Arthur has combined his expertise on the piano with the handbells. Wendy continues to find ways to live out her faith at St. Philip. Though her children are grown, she was still invited to volunteer for VBS, and she enjoys helping the children grow in faith. Wendy has found the church home she was looking for at St. Philip.
Because of your generosity, St. Philip Lutheran Church provides a meaningful worship service blended with lovely music each week. During these services, those who are worshipping can receive Word and Sacrament and become recharged for the ministry awaiting them. Thank you for your generosity.
