St. Philip Staff

  • Rev. Jason M. Lee, Pastor

Pastor Jason has served at St. Philip since February 2014. Although he hails from the South, having graduated from Newberry College and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, he started his ministerial journey in Wyomissing, PA, where he spent his first six years of ordained ministry.

Prior to attending seminary, Pastor Jason worked at Lutheridge - a Lutheran camp outside of Asheville, NC - for five summers as a counselor and Area Director.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Jason serves in the broader church community. He is a Board Member for NovusWay (parent body for Lutheridge and two other camps). Formerly, he has served as Dean of the Epiphany Conference and on the SC Synod's Vitality Team. He has also served as Chaplain and Worship Leader at two different SC Synod Assemblies, both in-person and online.

Beyond his dedication to the church, Pastor Jason finds joy and relaxation in his family and hobbies. He has a passion for disc golf, and his appreciation for craft beer is not well-hidden.

With his diverse background, strong commitment to community and ministry, and well-rounded personality, Pastor Jason brings a unique and engaging perspective to our church community. He hopes to help St. Philip continue to move forward in mission, ministry, worship, and welcome.

We invite you to connect with Pastor Jason and be part of our shared mission at St. Philip.

  • John Sparkman, Director of Music Ministries

John has served the St Philip community as Director of Music Ministries & Organist since November of 2023. While he grew up just an hour and a half from Myrtle Beach in rural Robeson County NC, John came to St Philip from Washington State, where he served a dynamic congregation, Holy Spirit Lutheran in suburban Seattle, from 2010-2023.  While in Seattle, John also served as a choral accompanist for both Illumni Men’s Chorale and Diverse Harmony, a gay-straight allied community choir for middle & high schoolers. Prior to Seattle, John worked in Indianapolis following graduation from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2002 until 2010, serving both Methodist and Presbyterian congregations, Butler University’s Dance Department, and a host of local community theaters during his time in the Hoosier state.

With additional studies in church music at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus OH in the 2010’s, John has long felt a call to serve and foster the church’s song—he started playing for services alongside his grandmother (actually known as “Me-Maw,” for other native Southerners!) in middle school. John finds deep joy and hope in helping facilitate others’ musical expressions of praise, and warmly invites you to join in the song as you have time and interest!

  • Mrs. Linda Hendricks, Parish Administrator

Linda has served as Parish Administrator for St. Philip since September 2008. She moved to SC in 2006, along with her husband and their daughter. Since moving here, they now have a son-in-law and two beautiful granddaughters. Linda worked in the grocery business for 32 years before trying her hand at something different. Always curious, she wondered what working as church secretary would be like and has known now for 17 years! Linda enjoys music, singing, cooking/baking, spending time with family and friends, and most importantly, serving the Lord with much gladness.
