History
If you have ever received a card from St. Philip for a birthday or anniversary, chances are June Dohner was the one who made that happen. June and her late husband, Irv, have a long history with St. Philip.
Irv was the Director of Music at St. Philip in the late 1980s and early 1990s. June was always by his side, often working behind the scenes and helping where needed. Because of her involvement in churches across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and South Carolina, June has quite the church resume. After moving on from working at St. Philip, the Dohners continued to attend other churches along the Grand Strand, .
But each place they went, things weren’t quite filling their faith they were left feeling a bit empty.
Eventually, they made their way back to St. Philip and stayed for good. “We just loved the people here,” says June, “and the atmosphere of everything. ” The worship services, the sermons, and the involvement of children as acolytes … t- these are all pieces that create the culture of St. Philip. “And of course, I enjoy the music! Music is very important to my life.”
And even though June can’t do everything on her resume she once did, she still shares in ministry through birthday and anniversary cards. “The Holy Spirit is really working here,” June says. “I am happy coming to St. Philip. It is where I need to be.”
Your generosity to St. Philip helps us foster an atmosphere for everyone to be involved in God’s mission and ministry. Our ministry together includes - from the oldest to the youngest, from music to the people and fellowship, from cards and acolytes. Thank you for your generosity to St. Philip.
